Policies.

GENERAL

Committing to learning the guitar brings with it a number of responsibilities. Respecting our weekly lesson time is one of the most critical. While I try to remain flexible, I do have a number of students and, as a result, a number of previous time commitments. The day and time we agree to meet is of value to both you and I, and in order to keep things moving smoothly, it must be respected. In this hectic world, that isn't always easy. The following policies are to help you understand my expectations and hopefully answer questions you may have. If you have any questions regarding these policies, please contact me.

PAYMENT

Lessons will be paid on a month by month basis. A thirty (30) minute lesson costs $25.00, so most months it will be $100, while other months will be $125. I do not charge for days you know you will miss in advance. Hour lessons are available; contact me for more details. If you know in advance of cancellations or scheduling conflicts, please let me know and we can adjust this fee or seek to reschedule the lessons in question. Please see the Cancellations and Late Policy for more details. All payments will be made to me, Matthew Duffin, either by check or cash. Credit and check card payments can be arranged as well. Also, this rate is subject to change. I will give a month's advance warning in the event that the rates do change.

CANCELLATIONS

Cancellations are often unavoidable and I understand that events often occur without little warning. I will try my best to adapt to your scheduling needs. That being said, I do expect to be given at least 24 hours notice for cancellations. If 24 hours is not given, you will be charged for the lesson. You will be given one free pass in regards to this policy. Exceptions will be made in the event of illness or other emergencies. If I am given 24 hours notice, I will do everything that I can to reschedule your lesson. However, if we are unable to reschedule, you will be charged for the lesson. In the event of no call/no shows (i.e. you do not call as well as not attend the lesson), you will be charged unless it is due to illness or an emergency. If more than one no call/no show occurs, you may lose your time slot. Please understand that this can be avoided with a simple phone call or e-mail.

LATE POLICY

If you arrive late for a lesson you may not receive the full half-hour. My lessons are scheduled back to back without any breaks, so I am limited to the times I have already scheduled. I will do my best to give you the full lesson, especially if you are less than five minutes late. My advice is to try and arrive 5-10 minutes early to guarantee you get your full lesson. If you are later than 5 minutes, we will do what we can to make the most of that time, but you will be charged for the full lesson.

BE PREPARED

Please arrive prepared for the lesson. That means arriving with your guitar, a pick and all lesson materials. I will do what I can if any of these items are missing. I encourage you to purchase a guitar tuner as well if you haven't already. And I recommend buying a metronome as well. I work primarily out of two books: Alfred's Basic Guitar Method series and Berklee Press's Method for Modern Guitar. Twin Town keeps these books in stock and I will let you know which one we'll be working out of after our first lesson.

Please contact with any questions you may have.
